Great Bridge Chapter SAR

The Great Bridge Chapter SAR is one of Virginia SAR's newest chapters chartered on December 2, 2023 and is named in honor of the Battle of Great Bridge. The chapter is one of eight chapters in the Eastern Region and draws its membership primarily from the Chesapeake area. Chapter compatriots engage with the community in educational, patriotic and historical programs, including youth, scouting, veterans, and public servants/first responders.

In December 2025, the Great Bridge and Norfolk chapters hosted the National SAR event with the 250th Anniversary and 125th annual commemoration. Each year, the chapter coordinates this marque event as an annual commemoration of the Battle of Great Bridge.

At the 2026 Virginia SAR Annual Meeting, the chapter was recognized at the state level with streamers representing our 2025 activities to include:
