Dr. Winter Vernon Lantz

Dr. Winter Vernon Lantz, 88, a retired business executive who lived at World Golf Village, St. Augustine, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2023 at Community Hospice of Jacksonville.

Dr. Lantz, a native of Baltimore, MD, had been a corporate executive for Martin Marietta, General Motors and Sara Lee. He earned his bachelor's degree at Johns Hopkins University, a master's from Princeton University, doctorate from Notre Dame University and did additional post-doctoral work at NYU and Columbia University.

He and his wife of 32 years, Eve, had a sentimental attachment to St. Augustine. Their

first date was during a weekend in the historic city. They were actually married in an airplane while flying over the Bridge of Lions. They lived in the Carolinas until moving to St. Augustine in December 2019.

Lantz was a member of the Thomas Jefferson Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, Charlottesville, Va. He enjoyed researching his family history in Maryland and the Carolinas and was a big fan of the Johns Hopkins Lacrosse program.

Additional survivors include one son: Judson Winter Lantz (Maria) of Seattle, WA and two daughters: Susan Oliver (Bob) of Deltona, FL and Stephanie Rife (Ethan) of Crescent City, FL. Lantz also had 7 grandchildren: Jack 7, Carson 4, Jason US Navy, Andrew USAF, Alanna 14, Abigail 9, Natalie 7 and 3 great grandchildren.
